Dog Class Descriptions
BASIC MANNERS (Dogs must be a “green light” dogs and current with vaccinations.  The class fee is only $150 and class duration is six weeks).  You will learn how to teach your dog to:  sit, down, come, walk on a loose leash, stay, pay attention to you, to greet people politely rather than jumping on them, and puppy raising issues.  Each week is packed with information, giving you the knowledge to train your dog to be a well behaved family member.  The first night is an orientation without dogs and then five weeks with dogs follow.  Please bring verification of your dog's vaccination records to the orientation (DHLP, Rabies, and Bordetella).

K9 SCENT DETECTION GAMES (Dogs must be a "green light" or former "yellow light" dogs who have completed a Basic Manners course and be current with vaccinations.  The class fee is only $180 and class duration is six weeks).  In this class you will learn how to develop your dog's natural scent detection abilities. Your dog will have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy.  You can compete at national events or do it just for fun with the entire family.  The whole family will love playing scent games with your dog.  Click here to learn more about scent games or watch a scent games video demonstration.

INTERMEDIATE MANNERS (CANINE GOOD CITIZEN) is an intermediate level dog class. (Dogs must have previously completed a Basic Manners class and be a “green light” dog. The class duration is 6 weeks for only $150.00).  You will learn how to train your dog beyond the basics and prepare for the American Kennel Club's (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluation which is given on the last night of class.  Some of the skills you will learn include:  Beginning heel by your side, Sit-Stay & Down-Stay with harder distractions and distance, Come despite harder distractions and distance, Go to a place on cue (from a distance and for longer duration), Calmly greet another dog team and other items on the CGC evaluation.  The CGC Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the AKC.  The CGC exam is open to mix and purebred dogs.  You can qualify to take the CGC evaluation for free if you register for the Intermediate Manners class before completing the Basic Manners class.

FEISTY FIDO REHAB.
(Dogs must be a “yellow light” dog and be current with vaccinations.  The class duration is 6 weeks for only $230.00).  Does your dog have difficulty getting along with other dogs?  If so, a Feisty Fido class is the place to be!  The first night is an orientation without dogs and then five subsequent weeks with dogs follow.  Please bring verification of your dog’s vaccination records (DHLP, Rabies & Bordetella) to the orientation.  The Feisty Fido class is so popular that it fills up quickly and the class size is limited to only 4 dogs.  Aggression is usually a "heightened inappropriate sense of defensiveness" or a willingness to retain a resource.  Basically, the dog is stressed and is trying to protect itself or guard it's resources, the only way it knows how to; whether that be by cowering, growling, snapping, lunging or biting.  It has two options, to fight or to flee.  A stressed dog may use it's teeth to accomplish either intent.  However, when one looks at aggression for what it really is, then you're in a position to be able to help your dog move from a reactive state to a calmer thinking state of mind and therefore, exhibit more controllable and desired behavior.  In this class, you will learn:  how to read your dog’s challenging and fearful postures, proper safe handling skills, how to better prevent dangerous situations, and how to teach your dog basic obedience skills.  You will teach your dog how to:  relax around other dogs instead of acting aggressive or fearful, pay more attention to you rather than other dogs, and learn basic obedience skills despite distractions.

REMOTE ADVENTURES (Pre-requisites for the class are that dogs should be "green light dogs" and have basic knowledge of sit, down and come commands, class fee is only $100 for four weeks).  The Remote Adventures group class combines superior dog training amongst distractions in the real world with cutting edge technology.  Remote collar training is a very effective and humane training system that is easy for your dog to understand.  This equates to fast and reliable learning.  For more information, visit Remote Adventures.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES (Dog must have completed a Basic Manners group class or private instruction and be a "green light" or "former yellow light" dog.  Class fee is only $100.00 for four weeks).  If you need help with loose leash walking and proofing obedience commands amongst real world distractions (nature, animals, dogs, crowds, traffic, etc.), then the Outdoor Adventure class is a perfect fit for you and your dog.  Students will also work toward Canine Good Citizen (CGC) requirements with testing available on the last day of class.  For more information, visit Outdoor Adventures.

ADVANCED MANNERS - Rally  (Dog must have completed the Intermediate Manners - CGC class or have earned a CGC certificate, be a "green light" dog, and current with vaccinations.  The class duration is six weeks for only $150.00)
The Advanced Manners class takes the dog and owner’s skill levels to a new height up to and including off leash control.  It’s focus is to teach reliable advanced manners and to have fun working as a team through different obedience obstacles.  In this class, one learns how to teach their dog a competition "heel", to stay despite increasing distance from your dog and ultimately be able to perform out of sight stays, and fun Rally obedience exercises (Rally can be described as a mixture of some agility exercises with fun obedience stations) preparing the dog team to participate in competitions if so desired.

FUN AGILITY (Dog must be a "green light dog" and have completed the Intermediate Manners-CGC class and/or earned a CGC certificate and be current with vaccinations.  Class duration is 6 weeks for only $150.00).  Owners will learn how to teach their dog to complete basic agility obstacles such as a tunnel, tire & bar jumps, ramp, and more.  Later, dogs and handlers will sequence the obstacles as part of an obstacle course.  While this class will help prepare a dog team interested in competing in agility competitions, it's focus is just for fun and to build your dog's confidence level.  It's a great way to have fun with your dog!
