Michael Burkey is a professional dog trainer and dog behavior consultant, an expert trial witness, former Police K9 Handler, former Search and Rescue K9 Handler and Trainer, obedience and rally competitor, and a Certified Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator for the American Kennel Club (AKC). He works with all breeds, large and small.
Additionally, he previously served as the Ethics Chairman for the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) for many years and currently volunteers his services as a Dog Behavior Consultant for the Humane Society of Huron Valley, in Ann Arbor, Michigan and as a trainer for a local 4-H Agility team.
Michael trains calm and happy family dogs and specializes in working with dogs who show fearful and/or aggressive tendencies in southeastern Michigan, in the metro Detroit area: Oakland County, Washtenaw County and Wayne County. He is highly regarded byveterinarians, rescue organizations, and clients. Additionally, 3 Certified Dog Behavior Consultants and 7 Dog Trainers refer their aggression cases to Michael.
In addition to dog training, Michael is a trained social worker. This unique experience of consulting and training people and dogs, enables him to teach you how to train your dog the right way, the first time and have fun doing it. Dog training is a complex science and art requiring knowledge of behavioral science and learning. You can rely on Michael's experience, teaching methods, and integrity to help you solve your dog training problems.

While Michael trains all breed of dogs, small and large; his personal dogs have included: 5 Belgian Malinois (plus two litters of puppies), 1 German Shepherd, 1 Laborador Retriever, 1 Miniature Schnauzer, and 1 Beagle/Rat Terrier mix.
