In-Home Training
Michael taught Gabrielle how to train her German Shepherd puppy, Odin; to go to the stairs and wait upon hearing the doorbell ring.

This allows Gabrielle to enter the house without Odin trying to run out the door or jump on her.  Additionally, her parents can answer the door to speak with strangers with Odin under control and nearby.  Oh by the way, Odin learned this skill in only one session!
"Dogs are very receptive to Michael's calm yet confident demeanor. Michael is quite personable with people as well, and let’s face it, it is the owner who needs to learn how to improve upon and reinforce that which the dog is taught in class. My dog was already fairly well trained, but had some defensive issues when it came to unfamiliar individuals and dogs. Michael went the extra mile to help me recognize the signs and how to address them at the appropriate time and manner in order to correct this behavior and it worked brilliantly!" Mark M. of Lapeer, MI

Does your dog jump on guests as they enter your home or try to barge out the front door?  Would you prefer your dog to back up on command, lay down and wait for your guests to greet your dog?  Watch the video clip and see what Cleo was able to learn from Michael very quickly!  Way to go Cleo!

Abby use to drag her owners during walks, so much it became necessary for her owners to allow her to run circles around them during walks to limit the pulling.  However, in just five minutes, Abby learned to pay attention to her owners and walk on a loose leash next to their side.
Gambit use to charge the front door when guests came to the house.  Now he is able to go to "place" and greet guests calmly.

You need Michael to be your Canine Personal Trainer, if you desire:

  • Quicker results
  • One on one attention
  • Personal training program to match your dog's needs
  • To have an expert, help you train your dog the right way, the first time in the convenience of your home

Michael also recommends in-home training for owners who work schedules preclude them from attending group classes, have more than one dog to train, or if your dog shows aggressive tendencies (heightened defensiveness) towards people and/or other dogs.

In-home training is appropriate in these circumstances.  In fact, it is the best way to go as the home environment is where the dog's behaviors are shown and the training program can be personally tailored to your needs.

Individualized Plan

Michael works with all breeds of dogs and the training programs are individually tailored.  However, most owners desire the following:

  • How to reduce and better manage aggressive / fearful tendencies
  • How to modify other behavioral problems
  • How to teach self imposed calm behavior
  • To walk nicely on a leash
  • Basic obedience commands (come, sit, down, stay, heel, etc.)
  • To wait at door ways rather than barging out past you
  • To go to a predetermined place and stay there till released
  • To bark or to be quiet upon command
  • To leave an item / drop an item upon command

What Do Training Sessions Include?

  • Michael will ask you questions about your dog's history and desired goals for your dog
  • Michael will conduct a temperament evaluation of your dog if needed
  • You and Michael will start your dog's education right away
  • You will be provided a written training plan and
  • You will receive email follow-up support for the presented problems

Schedule an Appointment with Michael

Initial appointments are 1.5 hours in duration.  In many cases, you can obtain the information you need to carry out the training program for your dog in just one session!  But, if you desire follow-up appointments, Michael will be happy to arrange packaged hour appointments.  Email support is available for the presented problems at no charge.

To schedule your personal appointment with Michael, click on the below registration button and select the In-Home Appointment service.  Michael will advise you of the appointment fee which is determined by how far he has to drive to meet with you as he has clients near and far.  Payment can be made by check or cash at the conclusion of the appointment.

PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:  Be sure your dog is hungry and have plenty of small food treats available that your dog finds very appealing.

TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT:  Please show Michael a copy of your dog's current rabies certificate.

Michael's positive methods of training are incredibly excellent to say the least. I have worked with my dogs with Michael for many years now and the different ways he has taught me to train each of my dogs is nothing short of amazing and incredible. He is currently working with me and our 9 month old Bernese girl who has always been a "wild child" of sorts. In one session of working with Michael she has accomplished loose lead walking and the sit command. We are continuing to work hard with her daily to get her where she needs to be and with Michael's help I know we will accomplish it. Thank you Michael so much for all your help and input..........Kelly Wier

Hi Michael, It's Amy R....You were at our house the other afternoon and already I see a difference.  So I just wanted to thank you again for coming out and helping us.  I will contact you in the future if we need anything.  I appreciate my much quieter dog now.
